Introduction to R for data analysis
Learn how to use statistical programming to build predictive models and beautiful visualisations.
Why learn R?

-
R is an open source programming language built specifically for data analysis. Complex statistical models and glorious visualisations can be built with single lines of code.
-
R deals extremely well with the usually tedious tasks of importing and cleaning data, leaving you free to focus on building predictive models with ease.
-
Hugely popular in the academic community and completely free to use. It is the programming language of choice for scientists who deal with large datasets and has become increasingly widespread in business more recently.
-
Great for data manipulations that are either tedious or impossible in excel.
-
Large online community with a vast array of useful packages. For example ggplot2; a package for creating aesthetically pleasing graphs with little effort.

Course structure

We aim to get you writing working code as quickly as possible and prioritise learning from trial and error rather than being theory-driven. Sessions will consist of short presentations with live code demonstrations and examples. You will then work on interesting practicals designed to help you to think like a data scientist.

30 hours total:

-
Introduction to R and R syntax (3 hours)
-
Importing and exporting data (4 hours)
-
Basic statistics (4 hours)
-
Linear modelling (4 hours)
-
Logistic regression (4 hours)
-
Data visualisation: ggplot2 (5 hours)

The 30 hours of this course can be covered in a 5-day week of full day sessions with breaks, or split across any combination of day/evening sessions as you prefer. We are extremely flexible and can adapt your course structure to suit your needs. The course can be delivered in-office, at a venue of your choice, or virtually on Zoom.

We can also tailor the content if there are any specific packages or topics you want to focus on in more detail. We often tailor the exercises with data that is relevant to your company. Just get in touch to find how we can provide the ideal course for you.
